CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF NONPROFIT FILMMAKING!

When Rock 'n' Roll Beat Jim Crow

A high-energy, get-up-and-dance film enabling today’s teenage moviegoers to celebrate what music can do to change the world!  Part concert film, part cultural detective story—WR+RBJC reveals how 1950s era teenagers made their Rock ‘n’ Roll music do what the laws could not.

In the 1950s, teenagers broke the “adult” racial rules by dancing together.   Today, teenagers could break free of the “adult” created algorithms by putting down their phones and doing it again.

Modern American teens are increasingly resisting phones and social media sites—they are reclaiming their social lives from systems created and controlled by adults.
